Ask ChatGPT to upscale a photo and it repaints the scene from its own understanding rather than enlarging your pixels. The person comes back with a slightly different face, the lettering rewrites itself, the shirt acquires a new pattern. Output tops out around 2K, which is where real upscalers start.
the catchIt is not enlarging your photo, it is drawing a fresh one that resembles it. Fine for a wallpaper, fatal for anything a client has to recognize.
