Yes, Grok has a free plan at $0 with limited chat, image generation and Grok Build, and no end date. Video, Grok Bot and the latest Grok models start at $30. Since October 12 every paid plan is The X Subscription, which sells Grok, Cursor and X Premium as one package.
Stay on the free plan if you want a chatbot for the odd question and image, and you can wait when the limit runs out.
Pay if you want video, Grok Bot or the latest Grok models, which all start at Premium for $30, since the $8 Plus plan has none of the three.
Skip it if you want an AI subscription on its own, because every paid Grok plan now comes bundled with X Premium and Cursor and shares one usage pool with them.

There is a limit, and SpaceXAI does not print it. The pricing table marks chat, image generation and Grok Build as Limited on the free plan. The help docs add only that the free tier has its own limits on Chat and Voice, which reset on their own schedule.
Paid plans work differently. Each one has a single pool shared across Grok and Cursor, refreshed weekly, and Plus sets the baseline: Premium is 4x, Super 15x and Ultra 50x. None of them gets a number either.
Since October 12 there is one way to pay for Grok: The X Subscription, sold by X Subscription Corp. It bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium at $8, $30, $100 or $200 a month, and the pricing page recommends Premium to new AI users.
If you already pay for SuperGrok or X Premium, your plan and price stay until you choose to switch, and the switch is rolling out in billing settings. New buyers see only the new plans on grok.com/plans and x.ai/pricing.
Images are free, video is not. The comparison table marks image generation Limited on the free plan and Included from Plus, and video generation only from Premium. No count of free images is given.
Plus does not add video either. The cheapest way to make a Grok video is now $30 a month, up from $10 on the old SuperGrok Lite plan, which is no longer on the plans page.
You do not need one, because the free plan has no end date. The new plans pages show no trial. If checkout offers you a discount on the first months, look at the renewal price before you accept.
Nothing on the free plan. Paid Grok is now The X Subscription: Plus is $8 a month, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200, before tax. Video and the latest Grok models start at Premium.
It is still free, listed at $0 on the pricing page today. You probably hit the limit or a paid feature: video, Grok Bot and the latest Grok models need Premium.
New buyers cannot pick it anymore. Premium took its $30 slot and adds Cursor and X Premium features, with one weekly pool shared across all of them. If you already pay for SuperGrok you can keep it for now, and switching is optional.
