Base44 has a free plan that never expires, but it stops at 5 message credits a day and 25 a month, and every new app on it is public. Enough to see whether it can build your idea. Privacy, your own domain and code export are all paid.
Stay on the free plan if you are testing whether Base44 can build your idea at all, and a few prompts a day on a public app will tell you.
Pay if the app works and you need it private, on your own domain, or without the badge that lets visitors copy it. That is Starter, $20.
Skip it if you want to own and host the code from day one, because export starts at $50 a month and the exported project still calls Base44's SDK.

Base44 pricing is one subscription with two credit meters. The pricing page opens with the Yearly toggle on, so the first numbers you see are 20% below the monthly-billed prices above.
Message credits pay for building: about 1 for the first build, 0.5 for a small change, 3 to 4 for an app-wide one. Base44 calls these estimates. Integration credits pay for what the published app does. Database reads and writes are free. Unused credits expire at each reset, and when integration credits run out your visitors see an error.
The Base44 free plan is 25 message credits a month, handed out 5 a day, plus 100 integration credits and up to 5 apps. The daily cap is in the docs, not on the pricing page. Five credits is one or two app-wide changes, or about ten small ones.
New apps on the free plan can only be public. A public app carries the "Edit with Base44" badge, and a visitor who clicks it can clone the app into their own account. Removing the badge is a Starter feature.
The Base44 Starter plan is where the free plan's restrictions come off: four times the message credits, unlimited apps, private apps, your own domain, in-app code edits and no badge.
It does not include GitHub sync, ZIP export or backend functions. If the plan is to build here and leave with your code later, the price to compare is Builder's $50, not $20.
A Base44 promo code appears nowhere on Base44's pricing page or in its billing docs. Two discounts do. Annual billing takes 20% off every paid plan. The academic discount takes 50% off Starter or Builder for students, teachers and staff with a recognised school email, for up to 12 months, once per account. Payments are non-refundable, so be wary of codes from coupon sites.
No trial of the paid plans appears on Base44's pricing page or in its billing docs. The free plan is the trial, with no time limit. Use it first, because paid plans are non-refundable.
$0, $20, $50, $100 or $200 a month billed monthly, and 20% less billed yearly. Enterprise is custom. Outside services you connect to your app bill you separately.
For a prototype or internal tool you want working this week without writing code, Starter at $20 is fair. For a product you intend to own, price it at Builder, and know that even with GitHub sync your data entities are managed in Base44, not in your repo.
