Everything that changes a sentence instead of correcting it is under Pro. For a second pair of eyes on email, free is the whole product. For an editor, it is a demo.
Yes, with a hard cap. Free accounts get 100 generative AI prompts a month. Grammarly's help page counts one prompt each time you type in the prompt field or click a ready-made suggestion such as "Improve it", so the buttons spend your allowance too.
At zero, you see how many days are left until the refill, next to an upgrade button. The refill is not on the first of the month. It follows the day AI was first switched on in your account.
The free plan is not a trial and never expires. The trial is seven days of Pro, shown on the plans page as "$0 payment today" with an email reminder two days before it ends.
Two details from Grammarly's help pages. Trials are offered "periodically", so you may not see one. And Grammarly puts a temporary pending charge on your card to validate it, which becomes the real charge unless you cancel.
Grammarly itself gives students no free Pro. Its student page leads to the same free plan as everyone else. The official discount is 50% off Pro for eligible students, verified through SheerID, "for a limited time" and valid for one subscription period only, so expect to renew at full price.
