Mostly: Rocket Money links your bank through Plaid, says it never stores your bank login, and we found no reported breach. The risk is what you hand over for bill negotiation, and a default that lets other Rocket companies market to you.
Use it if you want a read-only view of your accounts and subscriptions, and you cancel and negotiate bills yourself.
Be careful if you use bill negotiation or cancellation, which means handing over the provider PIN or password and letting its agents pose as you.
Skip it if you do not want your transactions inside a mortgage lender's group of companies, because that sharing cannot be switched off.

For reading your balances, yes. You type your bank password into Plaid's window, and Rocket Money receives a token that lets it view transactions. The weak point is the chain: Plaid keeps its own record of the connection, which you can see and close at my.plaid.com. If you are weighing Monarch Money instead, its safety has its own page.
Not for money, it says: it accepts "no payment of any kind" for your personal or financial data. Sharing is the better question. Its privacy notice shares your transaction data with Rocket Mortgage and the other affiliates, and with financial firms it markets jointly with, and you cannot limit either. What you can stop is affiliates marketing to you, by asking.
Yes. Rocket Companies bought it as Truebill in December 2021 and reports it in SEC filings. The documented complaints are about money, not stolen data: EPIC alleged in 2022 that the sign-up flow nudged people into paying and into higher negotiation fees. Those are allegations, not findings. If you start a Premium trial, note the price you picked before it renews.
No. It tracks spending and, on paid plans, cancels and negotiates for you, as advertised. The complaints on record are about billing design, not theft.
Rocket Companies, the Detroit company behind Rocket Mortgage. It bought the app, then called Truebill, on December 23, 2021.
We found no regulator action. EPIC's 2022 filing is a request for the CFPB to investigate, not a lawsuit. Some reviews cite a 2024 FTC settlement, but the FTC's own case search returns nothing for Rocket Money or Truebill.
In the app: Settings, Profile, Delete My Account. Cancel Premium and active negotiations first. The terms say your data is removed within 48 hours.
