Cursor has a free plan with limited agent and chat requests and no end date, but Claude, GPT and Gemini are not on it and no limit is published. Since October 12 every paid plan is part of The X Subscription, shared with Grok and X, and the free year of Pro for students ended in June 2026.
Stay on the free plan if you want to see how the editor and its agent feel on a side project, because nothing expires.
Pay if you code most days, knowing Plus at $8 runs Grok models only and Claude, GPT or Gemini cost extra at API price from the $30 Premium plan.
Skip it if you wanted Claude or GPT for a flat monthly fee, since Cursor's new plans include only Grok usage and every other model is billed on top.

| plan | price | what matters |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Limited agent and Chat requests. No third-party models. No published limit. |
| Plus | $8/mo | Cursor, Grok chat and X Premium features in one shared pool. Grok models only. |
| Premium | $30/mo | 4x Plus usage, cloud agents, Bugbot reviews. Third-party models at API list price, on top. |
| Super | $100/mo | 15x Plus usage, priority access at peak times. |
| Ultra | $200/mo | 50x Plus usage. The old Cursor Ultra is closed to new sign-ups. |
| Pro / Pro+ | $20 / $60/mo | Existing subscribers keep them until they switch. Not on the pricing page for new users. |
Same idea, new rules. Cursor's pricing page no longer says Hobby. It lists a Free plan with limited agent requests and limited Chat requests, shared with Grok, and no figure for either. Third-party models are marked not included.
The numbers you see elsewhere, 2,000 completions and 50 requests, are from an older plan. Tab, the autocomplete, is not mentioned on the new page for any plan, free or paid.
Not anymore. Cursor stopped new sign-ups for its student discount on June 25, 2026, saying the program had become a target for fraud. If you redeemed it earlier, you keep the rate until the year ends, then Pro renews at $20 a month unless you cancel.
What is left: undergraduates are pointed to credits and discounts at campus and online events this fall, and graduate students, researchers and educators can request credits through a form.
Do not plan on it. Cursor staff said on the forum in April that your own keys need a paid plan and will not work on the free one even when set up correctly. It used to work, which is why older guides still suggest it.
The new pricing page does not mention own keys at all, and users are still asking about it in Cursor's forum since the October launch. Until Cursor answers, treat the free plan as keyless.
$8 is the entry price and $30 is the plan Cursor recommends to new AI users. Plus covers Grok models only. From Premium up you can use Claude, GPT and Gemini, but they are billed separately at API list price, with no allowance in the plan.
Every paid plan's allowance is one pool shared with Grok chat and Grok Bot, refreshed weekly: Premium is 4x Plus, Super 15x, Ultra 50x. If you already pay for Pro, Pro+ or Ultra, you keep your plan and its included third-party usage until you switch.
Cursor's pricing page lists none today. Other sites describe a one-week or two-week Pro trial, and we could not confirm either. Treat the free plan as the trial: it has no end date.
Nothing on the free plan. Paid Cursor is now The X Subscription: Plus is $8 a month, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200, before tax. Claude, GPT and Gemini usage is billed on top, from Premium.
Pro is no longer on the pricing page for new users. The nearest plan is Premium at $30, with cloud agents and code reviews, but third-party models now cost extra where Pro included some. If you code with Grok anyway, Plus at $8 is the cheaper way in.
SpaceX, since August 14, 2026, and since October 12 Cursor is sold inside The X Subscription with Grok and X Premium. OpenAI has said Cursor's access to its models would end on November 12, 2026.
