CapCut is free to download and edit in, with no card, but any project that uses a Pro-badged asset is stopped at export. That covers premium templates, effects, fonts and music, plus 4K and 60fps. CapCut's help page also lists auto captions under Pro, and free accounts get 0 GB of cloud storage.
Stay on the free plan if you cut your own clips by hand, export at 1080p and can leave the badged effects alone.
Pay if you post every day and lean on premium templates, 4K export or the AI tools, the things the export screen refuses.
Skip it if you do not want to hand ByteDance a perpetual, sub-licensable licence to the footage you upload, which no plan removes.

| plan | price | what matters |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Manual editing, export without a watermark. No Pro-badged assets, no 4K or 60fps, 0 GB cloud storage |
| Standard | $9.99/mo (US App Store) | Around 100 GB cloud storage, basic AI tools, aimed at phone editing |
| Pro | $19.99/mo (capcut.com, US App Store) | $179.99 a year on capcut.com. Premium assets, 1 TB storage, full AI set, mobile, desktop and web |
$19.99 a month is the one figure CapCut prints, with $179.99 for a year, on a resource page of its own site. There is no pricing page. The help centre says the real price is whatever the subscription screen shows for your region and platform, and that mobile and desktop are priced differently on purpose.
The US App Store listing today shows Pro Monthly at $19.99 and Standard Monthly at $9.99. Google Play shows only a range, $0.49 to $900 per item. Articles quoting Pro at $7.99 predate the price change.
Not if you edit by hand. CapCut's help pages name three causes: a template with an ending clip, the default outro, or a stock asset that needs attribution. Delete the ending segment and the export is clean, on mobile, PC and web.
The exception is Pro material. With a badged asset in the project, removing the watermark requires Pro at any resolution. On mobile you can decline and still export, with the watermark on it.
There is a 7-day free trial of Pro, for new subscribers in supported regions only. If your account has ever had Pro, even briefly, the option does not appear.
You add a card or PayPal before it starts. Nothing is charged up front, and your store account is charged automatically after 7 days unless you cancel.
Only if you publish often and use what it unlocks: badged templates and effects, 4K and 60fps, the AI tools and 1 TB of storage. If you cut your own footage at 1080p, the free plan already exports clean.
Yes. The desktop editor is a free download and the same rule applies: manual edits export, badged material does not. CapCut says desktop and mobile prices differ and publishes neither.
$9.99 a month on the US App Store listing today. CapCut's site gives no price for it, and describes the plan as focused on mobile editing.
It is still free, with less in it. CapCut cut the free cloud quota for new spaces to 0 GB and added a paid Standard plan. The editor and plain exports cost nothing.
Not today. CapCut is on the US App Store and on Google Play in the US, and both listings were updated in late September 2026.
